‘Ever since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, I have been trying to keep a balance.
Between rage and love.
Between hope and despair.
Between joy and sadness.
Between life and death.
The play Planting an Apple Tree is about the attempt to give birth to something new, about the striving for life and being creative in conditions that foster none of these endeavours. It is about Victory Gardens that give us hope, and blossom in our souls despite war and the cacophony of a mad world.’
